The province of Rieti has a surface of 2.749 Sq km, with 72 municipalities and a total of 151.242 inhabitants.
Seventy per cent of the territory of the Province of Rieti is mountainous and is part of Central Apennine. Monti della Laga, which are part of the National Park of Gran Sasso are located on the borders of the region of Marche and Abruzzo.
In the north we find the Mount Nuria from where the aqueduct of Peschiera starts.

In the area of Cicolano, the Mount Navegna and the Mount Cervia are inside a natural reserve rich in flora and fauna, characterized by suggestive landscapes. In the south there are the Mountains of the Duchessa, characterized by calcareous morphologic structure. Rieti
The Sabini Mounts are situated just at midway between the Reatina and the Sabina Valleys. The most famous mountain range is the Terminillo Mount, it is considered one of the most important places of Central Italy for those keen on winter sports.

There is a remarkable presence of water in the whole province. Besides the spring of Peschiera, reservoir of the city of Rome, within the territory of Rieti we can find eleven lakes.
Rieti, the chief city of the province, is situated in the centre of the Reatina Valley. In Rieti there is a square which is considered the centre of Italy.

Rieti’s cultural life is very rich and there are a lot of artistic attractions.
Together with the surrounding landscapes, Rieti and its province are among the main attractions of Central Italy.
