Latina The province of Latina has a surface of 2.250 Sq km, with 33 municipalities and a total of 510.000 inhabitants.
The territory is partly hilly, partly mountainous and plain on the coasts. The Province of Latina borders on the Tyrrhenian Sea along its west side.

The shoreline extends for more than 100 km and starts from the Astura river until the Garigliano river. The most important cities in this area are: Latina, Sabaudia, S. Felice Circeo, Terracina, Fondi, Sperlonga, Gaeta, Formia, Minturno-Scauri.
The Pontine islands are divided into two groups: Ponza, Palmarola, Gavi and Zannone on the North-West and Ventotene and Santo Stefano on the South-East. In the inland the province of LatinLatinaa is crossed by the Apennines. From North to South the Lepini, the Ausoni and the Aurunci Mounts, three mountain ranges once re-united under the only name of Volsci Mounts. There are various types of vegetation and high and massive relieves.

The most important municipalities in this area are Bassiano, Cori, Norma Priverno, Maenza, Roccagorga, Prosse di Roccasecca of the Volsci, Rocca Massima, Sermoneta and Sezze.
At the foot of the mountain range there is the Agro Pontino. In this zone the so-called new cities rose: Latina, Sabaudia, Aprilia and Pontinia. These cities were built during the Fascism, between 1932 and 1937, when the Pontine Marshes were reclaimed.
Also the Ausoni Mounts are near the Pontina Plain and the Piana di Fondi. There is a diversity of flora.

The most important municipalities are: Campodimele, Lenola and Monte San Biagio, Sonnino. Fondi is located by the sea and, just on the Tyrrhenian shore we find Sperlonga and Terracina.The Aurunci Mounts are characterized by rocky cliffs.

The most important municipalities in this area are: Castelforte, Itri, Spigno Saturnia, Santi Cosma and Damiano. Latina’s economy is founded on agriculture, industry, tourism and services. Crafts are important as well. Commerce is mainly developed in the southern part of the province while tourism is the most profitable activity on the coast.
